Five reasons we love where we work

We love big cities, we really do. We frequently travel down to London or up to Birmingham or Manchester for client meetings and events, and yes, it is nice to bump into a different coffee shop on every corner and have our pick at hundreds of possibilities for lunch.

But by the end of the day, we’re glad to go back to our countryside office. It might not be for everyone, but it’s definitely for us, and here are five reasons why we love where we work.

1. Head-clearing walks

There really is nothing like fresh air. We love being able to step outside the office straight onto fresh fields free of the usual pollution smells that you’d get from a big city. We always make sure to take the time to take our office dog Sam for walks, which not only gives him a bit of exercise but also helps us to clear our heads when we’ve hit a wall with a technical press release or a complex award entry.

2. Summer BBQs

It’s not often that you can use the space outside of the office for an impromptu summer BBQ. When the weather is nice (which let’s face it, isn’t always often) we make a quick trip to Tesco (or the local butchers if we’re feeling fancy) and throw together a BBQ. Not only is it a chance to get some vitamin D from the sunshine, but we also get to do our favourite thing (eat) and spend some time as a team. It’s a win-win.

3. A scenic drive to work

No long commute on a packed train for us! Most of us come from Milton Keynes, Buckingham, Aylesbury or any of the surrounding areas, which means a short drive to work with no traffic. Okay, it might be a bit of a pain when some of the country roads get flooded or when ice covers the ground in winter, but if it’s compared to a packed and delayed train, we’ll take the ice and floods any day.

4. An open office

The size of our team and the layout of our office creates an atmosphere of collaboration and makes brainstorming within teams very easy. We do have meeting rooms, but we sit in an open layout that encourages us to help each other out and work together across accounts to get things done.

5. It’s unique

We might talk about it a lot, but our location really is one of the things that makes us different. But, we get the best of both worlds. Our location places us close to Milton Keynes train station, with quick links to London and other big (and small) cities, so when we do want a bit of a change it’s easy for us to hop on a train and make the journey.
