Meet the Team: Becoming a Neo PR’ian after a World of Bustle in London

Meet Kelly, who has recently joined Neo PR as a Junior Account Manager. Kelly joins us after a move from London agency life and a host of prior B2B tech PR experience across a multitude of industries and sectors. She explains below why she made the move to an agency better aligned with her interests and passions:

Being from Coventry, I actually had my first venture into the world of PR close by at an agency in Birmingham, working mostly with a mix of B2B and B2C clients. These were anything from property and technology, to events and the local BID. I then joined another agency in the same city which was more focussed on the digitisation of businesses and building design, with a lot more social media management and paid social campaigns thrown in.

However, I knew that I yearned for something a bit more ‘me’, and an environment that really challenged me to grow and develop, so I moved to London to begin my career in the exciting world of B2B tech.

Entering the Tech Ecosystem in the Big Smoke

Joining the world of B2B tech PR with a reputable and well-known agency in Covent Garden was where I began to find my place in the world of PR. I had gained valuable experience from my past agencies in terms of coming to grips with social media, PR basics and how I approached campaigns, but this was really where it all started officially for me.

Working in a fast-paced environment across such a vast variety of sectors and nuances was a real eye-opener and a challenge that was incredibly exciting. I learned the ins and outs of so many different organisations and teams across digital health, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, cybersecurity, and many more.

I joined a couple of more agencies after that – all in central London, which all enabled me to continually build upon those learnings and experiences I had built the foundations of before I moved to the city. Though these experiences clearly shaped me as a professional and as an individual, I was ready to move on to something that would have an authentic B2B tech feel, an enthusiastic working environment and culture, and a way of working that made you feel part of something meaningful. That’s when I found Neo PR.

Lightning in a Bottle

After working in London for so many years, working at Neo PR, which has a roster of clients across my most valued industries – such as digital health – was a dream. The office (‘stables’) is also based out in the countryside, so you can imagine the difference between the hustle and bustle of London agency life compared to walking in the fields on your lunch break.

During my interview, it really didn’t take long for me to decide that Neo PR was the answer to everything that I was looking for. The interview itself was such a great experience, and the team and I clicked pretty much straight away.

Over my first few weeks, my colleagues have been incredibly welcoming and I feel like I’ve been here for much longer than I actually have. That’s always a testament to how quickly you feel you’re settling in, and this is undeniably down to an environment and team that is there when you need them, but who also trusts you to do what you need to do.

As a Neo PR-ian newbie, one of the things that I’m most looking forward to is how much I’m going to learn from the team. I’ve already learned so much during the first month, and that’s all because the team is so expertly and well-versed in the world of PR.
