My Journey With Neo PR So Far…
It’s hard to believe that nearly half a year has passed since I became a fully-fledged ‘NeoPRian’. And as I sit here to reflect on this milestone and put my thoughts into words for this blog, the old adage of ‘Time flies when you’re having fun’ really hits home. So, without further ado, join me as I take you through some of the highlights, challenges, and lessons I have learned during my first half-year with Neo PR.
Embracing the Neo PR Culture
It doesn’t matter who you are; everyone’s a tad nervous when starting a new job, but from day one, Ash, Jo and the team at Neo have done everything in their power to support me and make me feel at home. My favourite aspect of being at Neo is that everyone here genuinely gets along, and this camaraderie has played a massive part in every day being enjoyable and – most importantly – productive. It may come as a shock to some, but working in PR is extremely fast-paced – It’s not all champagne and fancy meals out like Sex in the City would have you believe. We often spend our days juggling five or six clients at a time, pitching to the media and writing content. So, it can be daunting in the first couple of months trying to get up to speed. However, the team here has helped me pick up the workload pretty seamlessly (If i do say so myself) and for that I can only say: THANK YOU!
Supporting Professional Development
Aside from the great people at Neo PR, I have also had the chance to develop myself professionally. I have been given training on our systems here and regularly get the opportunity to check in with the team to discuss my KPIs and ways to strengthen our campaigns for our clients. My input is always taken on board, and I like to think I’ve had a positive impact on all my clients since joining. My managers, Amy and David, regularly check in to ask what I want to get out of my role and are always forthcoming in suggesting ways I can manage my time and support my professional growth.
Work Hard, Play Hard
Anyone who knows me knows I like to work and play hard. Luckily for me, the team here shares this belief. I’ve already experienced two fantastic socials with the team. The first was bowling and a meal out, which is always a great way to figure out the more competitive members of your team. By the way, I’d like to go on record here and apologise to Ash for winning the bowling. That can’t have been easy for him… The second social event was at the Michelin Star restaurant, Marcus Belgravia, in London. This was an amazing day out and one I don’t think any of us will forget in a hurry – especially as we sat at the chef’s table! Very fancy, I know.
Celebrating The Team’s Successes
One thing that has really stood out to me since joining Neo is that they celebrate the team’s successes, big or small. This could be highlighting a great piece of coverage, good work over the quarter or work anniversaries. It became clear from day one that everyone in the team here is appreciated for what we do. A special shout out to Ellis, who is currently our ‘Star PR’ of the quarter, something I’m aiming for this time around (HA)…
Adapting To Challenges
No journey is without its challenges. For me, I have had a few struggles outside of work – tearing the ligaments in my knee playing rugby being the… um, highlight? However, this allowed me to throw myself into my work and adapt to a more remote working style. The team has supported me through this, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful. On a more professional level, I have also learnt to adapt to facing tight deadlines, navigating unexpected changes, or overcoming hurdles in a campaign.
Looking To The future
Looking ahead to the next six months, I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that await. Every day here brings something new to learn and explore and I’m confident the coming months will be filled with even more growth, achievements and shared success!
