Meet the Team: Director of Operations
As a growing B2B PR agency, we have hired a Director of Operations to help run the internal operations of Neo PR. Therefore, we’d like to introduce you to Sarah, who has taken on the role and will be an integral part of the team.
I’ve worked in the PR industry for 20 years now, which makes me feel very old! I studied English Literature at university and stumbled into PR from there, but from the outset, I loved it. I’ve always really enjoyed the varied nature of the sector, the fast pace and the opportunities to network and build relationships with the media and the industry.
With a few anomalies, I’ve always worked with technology clients in both B2C and B2B sectors across PR, social media, influencer marketing, digital marketing and content. I’ve worked with clients big and small from start-ups to household names and everything in-between. And I’ve worked in central London as well as outside the M25 – there is indeed life outside the capital city.
PR Changes
Over the last two decades, I’ve seen some significant changes to the PR industry. I remember the days before email and social media when we sent press releases in the post. It would take pretty much an entire day to issue a press release and perhaps wasn’t the most interesting of tasks. But you’ve got to start somewhere!
In more recent years, it’s been exciting to see PR become more closely integrated within the marketing mix. And of course, COVID has also played its part too. I think it’s fair to say that the pandemic highlighted the important role PR can play, with businesses relying on the PR function to communicate the ‘right’ message at a difficult time.
Why Neo?
The next step in my career is Neo PR, a small B2B tech agency in the Buckinghamshire countryside. The Stables (the office) comes complete with wellington boots to borrow for head-clearing walks around the fields, and a gorgeous collie dog called Sam, who provides us with a great reason to get out into the fresh air.
Neo has exactly what I’m looking for in a workplace. The agency was ahead of the curve in offering flexible working with a healthy respect for work-life balance – something that other companies are now falling over themselves to provide post-COVID. The team has a day a week in the office (more if we choose) which gives us the opportunity to meet up with colleagues in order to collaborate, brainstorm and socialise. And more importantly, eat cake. The team here is made up of genuinely nice people, who really know their stuff and achieve brilliant results for our roster of tech clients. I’m looking forward to learning a thing or two from them all.
Director of Operations
Having been Managing Director at a London consumer-tech agency and more recently, Head of PR at a Reading-based B2B agency, I’ve got a lot of relevant experience to bring to the business. I’m looking forward to playing a key role in the agency’s growth and development, working closely with the team, our clients and our Managing Director, Ashley, to help produce great work, maximise performance and achieve commercial success. Working with a small team enables you to make a real impact and that’s what really excites me.
